John Thomas is an emerging singer and songwriter in the Charleston, SC indie music scene who just released his self-titled EP, which contains what many think is going to be his first hit song, “jadeIwannaknow”. He recently shot a video for that tune with Director, Thomas Burke Heath at some iconic sites around the historic city where he resides. The piece is part homage to The Car’s “Drive” video, as well as Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer”, but mostly John at his compelling, charming best… strumming away on his graffiti-art guitar on the beautiful sands of Folly Beach and Charleston.
For an artist of his age, he is quite the prolific lyricist with over 140 original songs. Many consider John a throwback musician, equally capable of crafting haunting love songs, a future classic rock anthem, “intelligent pop” and even the occasional rockabilly tune. In other words, he is a true musician. His self-stated musical influences range from Elvis, Bob Dylan & The Beatles… To Cat Stevens & John Denver… To Green Day & Death Cab for Cutie… Pretty eclectic to say the least!
John is most comfortable connected to his guitar and an audience, captivating them with his sweet, sideways smile, sparkling blue eyes and easy banter. He prefers to keep it real, with no special effects added to his voice… It’s him stripped down to his vocals and his guitars. Be sure to check him out on YouTube and “Like” him on Facebook… John enjoys connecting with others that love music!
